Marco Bolognesi is a transmedia artist and experimental filmmaker. His practice combines found footage, materialist cinema, and appropriation art, transforming discarded film stock and photocopied frames into surreal visions that merge painting and cinema.

His flagship project, Sendai City, is a self-contained aesthetic and narrative universe developed through films, drawings, collages, and installations. Following The Truth on Sendai City (2024), distributed on Apple TV, Amazon Prime, and Google TV, he has completed Black Flag (2025),

which has already been acquired by the international sales agent House of Films.

He has received numerous awards, including Best Short Film at the L.A. Sci-Fi & Horror Festival (Los Angeles, 2022), Best Experimental Film at the Canadian Cinematography Awards (Toronto, 2022),

and an Honorable Mention at the Video Art & Experimental Film Festival (New York, 2021).

His directorial debut, The Truth on Sendai City, received several international awards, including Best Animation Feature Film at the Hallucinea Film Festival (France),

Best Directorial Debut at both the CineTech Future Fest (Poland) and the Terre di Siena Film Festival (Italy),

and Best Experimental Feature Film at both the Dialog Film Fest (Germany) and the Sofia World Film Festival (Bulgaria).

His new animated feature film, Black Flag, is currently in the Official Selection of Another Hole in the Head (San Francisco).

His work has been exhibited at institutions and events including MACRO Rome, Month of Photography Vienna, the Bienal del Fin del Mundo (Argentina & Chile),

and the International Biennial of Curitiba (Brazil). His artworks are part of public collections such as the Farnesina Collection (Italy),

the Oscar Niemeyer Museum (Brazil), and the Musée de la Photographie in Charleroi (Belgium).
