At Sigmund Raschel Theatre, transformed into an immersive anatomical theatre, four figures—the Judge, the Banker, the Devout, and the Aristocrat—lead a lecture-performance recounting the story of the Laputa Scientific Team.
Through a full use of the stage space, students relive the team’s investigation in the underground tunnels, the discovery of the anomalous signal, and the explosion that seals the fate of the city. The narrative then focuses on Doctor Victor Klein, a scientist who created and hid Nova, a creature born from forbidden experiments and connected to all the main characters in Sendai. As the narrative progresses, the immersive experience begins to crack: unstable technical effects, unexpected intrusions, and reality morphing with memories transform the theatre into a chaotic environment, where staged violence seems to come to life.
In front of the audience—unaware that the story has shifted from fiction to reality—the actress playing Nova is humiliated and assaulted like her character. The violence becomes real: the young woman is killed and dismembered, while the students applaud, convinced they are witnessing the extreme conclusion of the performance.
In the world of Sendai City, a cruel law extends a character’s guilt to the performer, overwhelmed by stigma and self-disgust.
